Michael's aim is to capture the essence of the distant view, capturing the way light interacts with the landscape and nature.

The Peak District is often reflected in his work as he regularly goes walking there as well as the UK coastline, a great love and source of inspiration.

Michael likes to work from memory, this gives him more freedom and expression . He works using bold open brush strokes as well as a palette knife achieving rich textured paintings.
