Born in 1973 in South Shields, Tyne & Wear Kevin's natural talent for painting was recognised at a very young age and was nurtured and encouraged by his mother and grandfather who were also naturally talented artists. Kevin studied Art and Design at university, where he graduated with a diploma in illustration but at this time he was more interested in his other love, music, and began a career as a professional musician playing guitar in a band.
In 2004 Kevin began to concentrate more seriously on painting as a profession. At this time he was painting mostly landscapes of Northumberland and The Lake District. His work has progressed into focusing on a combination of people in cityscapes and considering the relationship between them, this visual narrative has made his work highly sought after. Although Kevin is influenced by the greats such as Rembrandt, Turner, Singer Sargent and Hopper, he also takes inspiration from the film world.
