CATHERINE RAYNER

Catherine Rayner

Award winning author, illustrator and artist, Catherine was born in Harrogate and grew up in Boston Spa. She went on to study at Edinburgh College of Art and now lives in Edinburgh with her husband, two young sons and a small menagerie of creatures.

Having written and illustrated more than 25 children's books, Catherine also exhibits her paintings and silk-screen prints world wide. Her illustrations ave been commissioned by prestigious companies including Harrods, Faber & Faber and the David Shepherd Foundation.

Using subtle colour and tone whilst playing with scale, composition and open space to create paintings and silk-screen prints of animals. Her animals are brought to life with facial expressions that illustrate curiosity whilst the animals' postures suggest that they have simply strayed into the frame and might just as easily leave it again.
