After gaining a BA (hons) for illustration in 1997, Phil Wilson trained to be a teacher and taught art and design at a comprehensive school before eventually moving to industry, working in advertising as a creative studio manager.
Phil has recently returned to teaching part time so that he can continue with his passion of painting, experimenting with a range of styles and subject matter.
‘The inspiration for my work comes from a wide variety of sources including townscapes, landscapes and figurative as well as looking at how artists past and present have interpreted what they feel and see onto canvas.'
‘Creating a painting involves an understanding of tone, balance, composition, and colour harmony. Combining all these areas can be a challenge.'
