Artists & Illustrators Magazine - still life artist of the year 2010.
Only 12 months ago Paul was being described as a highly regarded emerging realist artist. Following two successful solo shows, celebrity commissions and a national award, 2011 is looking set to continue this rising progression for Yorkshire based Paul, with more high profile exhibitions and an invitation to the New York Art Fair.
Paul has steadily built a growing reputation in realist painting and drawing, with a particular focus on still life painting. His elegant compositions have found a receptive audience around the country, with intensely lit everyday objects that recall Spanish and Dutch paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
When Artists and Illustrators Magazine awarded Paul winner of their coveted Still Life Artist of The Year prize, they commented that Paul's work is "a very contemporary take on the still life genre, yet also respectful of centuries of tradition". It is this combination that has led to a growing demand for the artworks, making Paul Stone one of the most collectable early career painters in the country.
The Barefoot Gallery is exclusively exhibiting his work in the North East.
